Village Street in Auvers - Famous Art - Handmade Oil Painting on Canvas
Auvers-sure-Oise, or Auvers for short, is a small town northwest of Paris where Van Gogh went to in May 1890. In his letter to his brother and sister-in-law, Van Gogh described Auvers as "the heart of the countryside, distinctive and picturesque." The colours are lively, beautifully capturing the natural beauty of the countryside, the red thatched roofs, the abundance of green and yellow, and the sparsely painted blue sky. Despite the beauty and lightness of the picture, Van Gogh was not able to finish this painting because he took his own life, which explains why the sky appears unfinished.
