Self Portrait, Untitled, 1931. This is a self-portrait of Amrita Sher-Gil, painted by the artist at the young age of 18, while she was living in Paris. She has painted herself in profile, whilst seated at a table. Her hand rests on the table top. She wears a loose fitting blue sari. The yellow hue of the bowl in the foreground mirrors the golden colours of the French beret she wears on her head. Amrita Sher-Gil was a Hungarian-Indian painter. She has been called one of the greatest avant-garde women artists of the early 20th century.
