Mazhar Ali Khan was a 19th century Indian painter from the late Mughal era. Rendered in the traditional of Post-Mughal art, particularly the Company painting, his works are without doubt influenced by Western art. The fusion of the two styles and culture, and the shift from the more traditional Mughal style of art make Khan's works different. One of his famous works is a Self-Portrait. Painted from a distance, the work shows the artist leaning on a wall and painting something. He appears to be very comfortable and relaxed while working on a work of art.
