Rao Bhoj Singh Stalking a Tiger at Night 1620 By Hada Master - Famous Indian Art - Handmade oil painting on canvas
This early work titled "Rao Bhoj Singh Stalking a Tiger at Night, 1620" is attributed to the Hada Master who is known for his highly original work which often comprises of landscape compositions with dramatic hunting scenes. This painting shows is a moment of immense danger for a hunting party. We see two hunters up a tree; One hunter holds a musket. Immediately beneath him is a angry wounded tiger, attempting to reach him in the tree, whilst a tethered cow -the bait - lies maimed on the ground nearby. The hunters and animals are painted in bright colours which contrast starkly against the green monotoned night-time forest setting. This painting, like much of Hada's other work, is distinguished by it's emphasis on action, drama and theatricality.
