Krishna with Gopis on a Riverbank 1750 By Unkown - Famous Indian Art - Handmade oil painting on canvas
Krishna with Gopis on a Riverbank, 1750. At the right of the painting, we see the god Krishna place a water pot on the head of his beloved Radha. Radha is a Hindu goddess and the chief consort of the god Krishna. She is worshiped as the goddess of love, tenderness, compassion, and devotion. Along the riverbank we see other Gopi's/ milkmaids crouching down whilst engaged in activities such as washing or collecting water in water pots. In the lower left corner of the painting, we see a tiny figure and a chariot. The figure is Kama (the god of love and desire) who can be seen firing an arrow at Radha and Krishna, the love-stricken couple.
