This still-life piece was made by Vincent Van Gogh, a Post-Impressionist painter of Dutch origin. He completed it in the year 0f 1889 while he was working in the company of Gauguin at Arles. It depicts the chair of Vincent with his pipe, and this was painted in a light colours which suggests daylight. The pipe, handkerchief and tobacco presents both narrative and pictorial terms. Van chair shows a simple and unpretentious-a plain straw chair in a red-tiled floor.
