The Musicians by Caravaggio - Famous Art - Handmade Oil Painting on Canvas
The Musicians was one of the half-length realistic paintings that Caravaggio made when he moved to Rome in 1592. This masterpiece was painted for the artist’s patron, Cardinal Franceso del Monte. This painting was meant as an allegory of music. Aside from the musician playing at the center of the painting, Cupid is also present, giving it a classical look. Caravaggio even inserted himself as one of the boys in the painting. This remains, to this day, as one of the best paintings by the artist.
