Gustave Dore is famous for his graphic illustrations of literary works, particularly Dante’s The Divine Comedy. “The Inferno, Canto 21” is one of the drawings he made depicting scenes from this literary masterpiece. It features two figures at the cliff being attacked by devils. The devils have bat-like wings and are holding tridents pointed at the two figures. It is a very creepy and visually-haunting etching by Dore.
