It was completed in the year of 1839 and depicts one of the second-rate ships of the line which plays a distinguished role in the Battle of Trafalgar in the year of 1805. The painting shows a 98-gun ship HMS Temeraire, being towed by a paddle wheel steamed heading towards its final berth in Rotherhithe, London to be broken into a scrap.
