Most consider this the most dramatic work of Rembrandt Van Rijn. Here we see Rembrandt's depiction of one of many well-known, especially at that time, stories from the Bible's New Testament. Jesus' face seems brighter than the rest as he wakes from sleeping at the stern. The storm rages on and though there are fishermen amongst them, the disciples remain powerless against the force of nature. “Christ in the Storm on the Lake of Galilee" says what words cannot as the viewer witness’s tension, yet knows a powerful and sudden relief will be had for the men tossed by the sea. All it took was one man like none other.
