Whistlers Mother by James Neil Whistler also known as Arrangement in Grey and Black No.1. It was made in 1871 its said that Whistlers Mother acted as a replacement for a model who couldn’t attend the appointment. The painting was submitted to the Royal Academy of Art in London and was close to being rejected. Its now one of the most famous artworks made by an American artist. Now hangs in Musee d’Orsay in Paris.
