One painting that best represents the aesthetic of the group is Kirchner's "Franzi In Front of a Carved Hair." Here, a young girl stares at the audience with intense, somewhat intimidating green eyes. She is painted in shades of green and rendered in thick, unnatural brushstrokes. At her back, she is framed by a naked woman painted in tones of pink flesh. The style and rendering remind one of Van Gogh, Gauguin and Munch.
