The Horse Fair is a painting that depicts some dealers selling horses at a market near the Boulevard de l’Hopital in Paris, which can be seen in the background. This painting was developed from a series of sketches that the artist, Rosa Bonheur, did at the said Paris horse market. She attended the market twice a week; and so as not to attract attention to herself, she being a woman, she went there dressed as a man.
