The Blind House By William Degouve de Nuncques - Famous Art - Handmade Oil Painting On Canvas
William Degouve de Nuncques was a Belgian artist who was heavily influenced by the Symbolist poets of his time. His works, in turn, had a major influence on the Surrealist movement, particularly on the paintings of Rene Magritte. He often painted nightscenes of houses and parks. There was a magical quality to his works, particularly because of the colours used and the mood that they evoke. His painting "The Blind House" depicts a brightly-lit orange house at night. But the light source is nowhere to be seen. White and yellow lights shine out from the windows. Some parts of the house are covered by darkness and some a tree on the foreground. Like his other night paintings, this work has a dreamy atmosphere to it.
