The painting depicts Fortuna, the goddess of fortune, pouring coins and gifts on various animals, the kind that are often portrayed as undeserving and evil. This painting was interpreted as a satirical attack on the Pope, which caused an uproar and almost lead to Salvator's imprisonment and excommunication. Nevertheless, despite its bad reputation among believers, the painting is considered to this day as a masterful work of art, and one of the artist's personal best.
