Eugene-Louis Boudin was an influential artist considered to be one of the first French painters to paint outdoors. He mostly painted landscapes and marine subjects in his Impressionist style. One of his famous works is "Washerwomen by the River." It depicts a few women washing clothes at the river, standing or sitting on a rocky river bank. The calmness of the river, the spacious landscape, the sunlight and the passing clouds all make up the atmosphere of this work.
