"View of the Village" is an 1869 painting by French Impressionist painter Frederic Bazille. Despite the title, the main subject of this painting is a beautiful country girl who poses for the artist. A fine example of open-air portraiture, it features a woman dressed in light colours. She elegantly and femininely poses under the shade of a young tree. At the background is the view of the village, painted in light tones and brushstrokes. Separating the woman and the background is a line of green trees, bushes and grass.
