Despite its title, the "Interior of the Sistine Chapel" does not reveal or show much of the famous chapel. Leon Bonnat instead painted a spacious interior with barely any decor and done in a narrow range of colours. The brushwork is swift rather than detailed. The interior is animated only by a lone figure on a far left corner. A woman dressed in black facing the viewer or the painter who is busily sketching the scene.
