The Magpie by Claude Monet - Famous Art - Handmade Oil Painting on Canvas
Between 1867 and 1893, prominent French impressionists including Claude Monet made several winter landscapes. "The Magpie" is one of the popular winter landscape paintings by Monet. Painted from 1868 to 1869 in Etretat, Normandy, this artwork beautifully captures the snowy landscape. There are a beaten fence and a wooden gate with a bird perched on it. Leafless trees are in the background, with snow covering their branches. But this snowy landscape is not dark. The unseen sun is peeping somewhere, brightening some parts of the landscape, like some holy light shining upon the snow-covered commune.
