The painting is most noted for its play of light and colours. The scene is a garden with thick greens and foliage in the background, dappled in some parts by the warm sunlight. To contrast the colours, a woman wearing white is standing on the corner, facing the central garden. The whiteness of her dress and parasol divert makes her look more attractive amidst the different shades of green.
