Bordighera is a pastoral oil painting on canvas by French Impressionist Claude Monet. The artist travelled to Bordighera, a town on the Italian Rivera, close to the border. In a letter to Auguste Rodin, Monet described the beautiful Mediterranean light and the rich vegetation which he tried to translate into his paintings. This painting features a view taken from a hill-top, capturing the sun-drenched trees. The town and the sea are barely visible due to the interlacing branches of the local pines and their foliage.
