"Madonna of the Pinks" is an early devotional oil painting by Italian master Raphael. It is one of the famous mother and child paintings by the artist and of the Renaissance period. It features the Virgin Mary taking care of and playing with the child Christ who is holding a carnation flower. The flower symbolises Christ's passion as it frequently appears in accounts about Christ. At the background is an arched window where one can see a landscape with a ruined building. This masterpiece is now housed in the National Gallery in London.
